Poem of Motherhood

Motherhood is the biggest room
and the tightest squeeze,
its finding space in the cracks,
and the traces of fingers on warm skin.
Motherhood is remembering
crying was the first language.
So holy,
to weep,
to cry,
to dwell,
to become.

Motherhood is loving you,
because that is the kind of love that is easy,

through,
and
through again.
Motherhood is smooth sailing,
and restless nights,
more honey, then tea,
not enough coals but all the flame.
Motherhood is holding my pee,
to soothe your cries.
Motherhood is the exit
of self into wholeness,
of two souls becoming one.
Motherhood is dreamy,
yet fully alive,
sailing the skies,
parading the seas,
cusping your heart,
like little fragmented seashells,
mulusk, tide pools, rich water,
saltiness, sun kissed, breasts, goosebumps,
and
deep Love.
